1. What is AVGS?

The activation and placement voucher (AVGS) is a funding measure by the Employment Agency and the Job Center for job seekers and unemployed people. After the voucher has been issued, the recipient can choose one of the approved educational institutions.

2. Who can apply for the AVGS?

Unemployed persons with unemployment benefit I are entitled to the AVGS after at least 6 weeks of unemployment. For recipients of ALG II, university / vocational training graduates and individuals after parental leave (among others), the issue of an AVGS is at the discretion and consideration of the employment agent of the Employment Agency or the job center.

1. What is the education bonus?

The education bonus is a partial financing for specialized training for working people.

2. Who can apply for an educational bonus?

The education bonus is intended for training to improve employability and is aimed at

  • individuals in employment in Germany who are employed for at least 15 hours a week and have a maximum taxable annual income of € 20,000.
  • employees and the self-employed who receive “top-up benefits according to SGB II.
  • employees on parental leave or during the maternity leave with the above Limits of income.

3. What is funded?

A total of 50% of the course fees are funded up to a maximum of 500 € bonus. In the federal states of Brandenburg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein, grants can amount to up to € 1,000 or more. For a concrete overview, please contact the website of the institute.

The federal education premium program is coming to an end:

  • Premium vouchers can still be redeemed, provided the continuing education program concludes in 2022.
  • In the case of longer-lasting measures that are divided into content-related and financially delimited sections, premium vouchers can be settled early.
  • Applications for reimbursement of premium vouchers must be submitted to the BVA by December 31, 2022 at the latest.

1. What is an education check?

The education check offers employees in companies with their headquarters or permanent establishment in Brandenburg a proportionate support for specialized education and training in collaboration with the Brandenburg State Investment Bank (ILB).

2. Who can apply?

The funding is aimed at employees who have their primary residence in Brandenburg and / or in companies with a permanent establishment in Brandenburg. In other federal states, there are comparable measures, such as the QualiScheck in Rhineland- Pfalz, the training check in Saxony and Thuringia, the qualification check in Hesse, the training bonus in Schleswig-Holstein and the education check in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The education check supports up to 50% of the training costs (course and examination fees) with a maximum of € 3,000 per participant.

1. What is an educational loan?

The education loan is a form of funding for education or university studies that was introduced as part of the federal government's education loan program. This is issued regardless of income or assets and must be repaid at low interest.

2. Who can apply for an educational loan?

The education loan is aimed at school students as well as students in an advanced studies stage who want to finance their education, their studies or an internship.

3. What is funded?

With a credit from € 1,000 to € 7,000, you can choose between monthly installments of € 100, € 200 or € 300, which are only due 4 years after payment of the first installment at € 120 repayment rate per month. Extraordinary repayments of any amount are also always possible.

1. What is the Bildungsgutschein?

The education voucher (Bildungsgutschein) is a subsidy for specialized education or training costs for the unemployed or people at risk of unemployment, funded by the employment agency.

2. Who can apply for an education voucher?

Education vouchers are aimed at both employees and the unemployed, which have demonstrated necessity to

  • end unemployment
  • prevent impending unemployment
  • make up for a missing professional qualification

Employees can receive support with an education voucher through the Qualification Opportunities Act.

A voucher is only issued after a consultation with the responsible employment agency.

In the case of funding at private educational institutions, the education voucher covers not only the training costs but also the travel costs or the costs for meals or accommodation abroad.

1. What is Professional Promotion-BAföG?

The Federal Financial Aid for Professional Promotion - BAföG is used to promote master courses, specialized training in business  and  for technicians or other comparable courses in the non-academic area.

2. Who can apply for the Professional Promotion-BAföG?

Funding is provided to all people who prepare for a professional training test through a course. Specifically, it is to prepare master craftsmen and industrialists, educators, technicians, business managers or similar for a degree. There is no age limit for the application.

3. What is funded?

Courses and examination fees are funded up to € 15,000 regardless of income and assets. Here 40% are employed as a grant and for the remaining amount there is a low-interest loan from the kfW. You can find more information on additional options for a loan waiver on the website of the BaföG.

1. What is occupational rehabilitation?

The occupational rehabilitation of the German Pension Insurance is aimed at those people who are no longer able to pursue their profession due to health reasons and who would like to be reintegrated into working life.

2. Who can apply for occupational rehabilitation measures?

In order to receive the so-called "benefit for participation in working life", you must be in health rehabilitation and want to be reintegrated into the labor market. 1. What is the Professional Development Service of the Federal Armed Forces?

The Professional Development Service of the Federal Armed Forces operates at various locations across Germany. It takes care of the advice and professional integration of temporary soldiers, volunteers, and professional soldiers.

2. Who can apply?

1. What is the promotion of training for employees?

All currently employed persons can receive training funding regardless of their age or company size according to the Qualification Opportunities Act. This includes above all those employees whose activities are threatened by digitization and may be replaced in the future.

2. Who can apply?

Funding is given to working people who, in consultation with the employer, would like to take future-oriented training in order to renew and expand existing skills and abilities. The last comparable training course must have been completed at least 4 years in the past.

3. What is funded?

1. What is the training bonus?

The training bonus enables all people who successfully pass the intermediate or final examination of a re-training to be rewarded with success bonuses.

2. Who can apply?

Participants in re-training or preparatory courses for the external examination, which lead to the completion of an apprenticeship, can receive the advanced training bonus if certain conditions are met. The retraining must have started after August 1st, 2016 and must last at least 2 years.

3. What is funded?

If you successfully pass an interim examination at one professional association, € 1,000 will be issued. The premium for a successful final exam for re-training is € 1,500.

1. What is a Training grant?

With the training grant, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research supports young people after their vocational training for further professional qualifications.

2. Who can apply?

In order to receive the training grant, you must have completed a vocational training in a dual apprenticeship or a specialization in healthcare. Applicants may not be older than 24 years. In addition also:

  • a vocational final exam with at least one grade "good"
  • a concrete statement from a company or vocational school
  • participation in a national competition on a professional level

3. What is funded?

1. What are the VDSI-Points?

The Association for Safety, Health and Environmental Protection at Work (VDSI) offers its members the opportunity to collect points for the VDSI training certificate by participating in specific educational training.

2. Who can apply for a proof of training?

VDSI points can be acquired by any member of the association in the VDSI for participating in corresponding training.

3. What is funded?

Points can be collected in the areas of occupational safety, health protection and environmental protection. Proof of training can be acquired with a total of 6 points within 12 months. More detailed information can be found on the VDSI website.
